About the Host
Michael F. Schulze operated a substantial drug trafficking operation between Las Vegas and Honolulu from the ’90s into the new millennium. He became an investigative target of the DEA, FBI, two federal grand juries, and two state taskforces until taken down in 2002. Convicted by jury, Schulze was then sentenced to a mandatory term of 30 years in federal prison.
While incarcerated, Schulze studied law until developing a comprehension that shames most federal judges. His combined knowledge of, and experience in, administrative, civil, criminal, constitutional, habeas, and immigration law is hard to surpass. So too is his record of successful legal challenges to convictions and sentences of prisoners across the country.
Over the past two decades Schulze has been housed in 20 facilities of all security levels — 13 of which are operated by the Bureau of Prisons. He has been on 25 flights in custody — 18 of them on con-air — during 42 movements between jails, detention centers, transfer facilities, and prisons. He also served as an inmate law clerk and assisted fellow prisoners in filing, pursuing, and appealing grievances, disciplinary actions, administrative claims, civil suits, and post-conviction challenges. There is no aspect of incarceration or prison policy that he is unfamiliar with.
